THE DESK / GETTING STARTED
RESEARCH NOTESPAGE 01
First, make the question clear.
✓ Define the question
✓ Trace the source
Record the unknowns
Good notes. Better questions.

READ. RECORD. REFINE.
01 / YOUR WORKSPACE
Eight small steps. A clearer starting point.
Use this checklist while reviewing literature and catalog information. Mark a step when you have considered it, not as proof that a material is suitable or an experiment is approved.
Keep your actual research notes in your own records. This simple workspace stores only which boxes you checked, on this browser and device.
Remember
Planning progress is not evidence. A checked box means you reviewed a prompt.
You do not need an elaborate system to start. A small, consistent record helps you return to the source and see where your thinking has changed.
THE QUESTION
One sentence is a good beginning.
Describe the research question in plain language. Include the system you are studying and the observation you want to interpret. A specific sentence makes it easier to choose what to read next and to explain your interest to a colleague.
Keep your hypothesis distinct from a result. If you revise the question after reading, save the revision and the reason for it. That record is often more useful than an untidy collection of disconnected links.
01 / CLARITYTHE SOURCE
Save the trail, not just the claim.
For each useful source, record the title or identifier, the link, and the date you read it. Quote or summarize the specific point relevant to your question. Check the original context before carrying a claim into your own plan.
A paper, a supplier listing, and an internal note are different kinds of information. Label them clearly. When reviewing sequence notation, the IUPAC–IUB nomenclature recommendations offer a primary reference for amino acid symbols.
02 / TRACEABILITYTHE UNKNOWNS
Leave room for a question mark.
List missing information where you can see it. This might be a sequence detail, the meaning of a listed modification, or the scope of a supporting document. Do not quietly turn an unanswered question into an assumed fact.
Translate each uncertainty into a clear follow-up question. Product-specific questions belong with the supplier; questions about your study belong with your research team. A concise question list gives the next conversation a useful starting point.

03 / KEEP EXPLORING
Your next research reading stop.
Take your questions to the DoPeptide catalog. Explore current listings, read the material descriptions, and consult the supplier for availability, supporting information, and research-use conditions.

04 / A FEW PRACTICAL DETAILS
Before you close the notebook.
What is saved when I use the checklist?
Only the checked or unchecked status of the eight prompts is saved using your browser's local storage. There are no fields for names, contact details, experiment notes, or payment information. Use Reset checklist to clear the saved progress.
Will my progress follow me to another device?
No. Progress belongs to the browser and device you use. Private browsing, clearing site data, or blocking local storage may prevent it from being saved. The checklist remains usable for the current visit.
Is this an experimental protocol?
No. It is a reading and planning aid. It does not provide experimental instructions, validate a study, or replace institutional procedures. Review your research question and requirements with your own research team.
Can I buy materials from PepStudyKit?
PepStudyKit does not sell materials or process orders. Catalog buttons link to DoPeptide. The supplier's current descriptions, terms, and privacy policy apply at that destination. Linked materials are for laboratory research use only, not human or animal consumption.
